Master Planning

Developing a comprehensive planning document that encompasses all functions of the District’s vision, mission, objectives, and implementation options, BRJ & Associates, LLC, is excited to work with all constituents. From the interview process through the presentation, we pride ourselves on attention to detail and recognition of the unique context of the academic institution within the community.

Learning Resource Center

The new Learning Resources Center replaces a 50-year-old library facility and consolidates outdated learning labs from various areas of the existing campus.  The building features a dramatic reading room with a soaring, vaulted glass roof.

The completed project, placed at the central quad, will provide a symbolic focal point for the learning environment of the campus.

Child Development Center

The Child Development Center project at Compton Community College is an expansion of their existing Center.  It supports increases to both the care of infants and pre-school children, as well as the educational program that trains professionals in Child Development.  The new building is one story and approximately 11,000 square feet, with nine pre-school classrooms and all the support facilities needed for daily care and for the College’s educational program.  The exterior is brick veneer, with metal trim to match the standing seam curved metal roof.  Associated site improvements include play areas and a new formal entry to the complex of facilities.  The $3 million project is scheduled for completion in January 2006.

Performing Arts Center

This new facility is designed to provide both a learning environment for the College’s growing theater arts department and a cultural center for the surrounding community.

The comprehensive complex includes both acting/performing and technical theater arts facilities.  A 500-seat proscenium theater and a 70-seat black box theater promise to provide for a wide variety of performance and presentation styles.  The large scene shop and costume shop, along with make-up and other actor and audience support spaces round out the theater arts portion of the building.  Dance, Art, and Music classrooms are located in an adjacent wing of the new building.
